Pros: Breathtaking views; delightful wines, fruits, and limoncello; very relaxing Cons: Cold water, very touristy, muggy weather, can be boring at times
Lago Di Garda is a huge lake situated in Northern Italy, just south of the South Tirol. While it is ...
Pros: Garda Land Amusement Park! Nice lake beach. Cheap Investment Realty. Cons: If you're a person of color, be prepared for stares at the lake.
I have been twice to Lake Garda while living just outside of Milan. We stopped there on our way to Venice from Milan. We ended up stopping there on our way back as well (it was kind of a half-way point for us). The lake is pristine, calm and ...
Garda is an old town situated on the lake, it has a boat service and a bus service to most of the other towns and villiages on the lake. The boat service is very reliable and mostly on time, the buses are always late (and I mean late -sometimes upto ...
Pros: great place to relax and enjoy the views Cons: not much else to do for more than a couple days
Although Lake Garda is often overlooked, I recommend this quiet town to anyone looking for a place to relax after or inbetween visiting the bustling and tourist covered cities. I really enjoyed staying at this magnificent lake with spectatular views...
We drove from London to Lake Garda in late August and stayed at the Gardone Rivera resort on the west side of the Lake. Sorry to say we REALLY didn't like it. The hotel we stayed in was about 130 euros for B&B and although the room was large and ...
Pros: Great views in north, good value food and appartments, very child friendly Cons: Gets busy in summer, avoid the southern end of lake.
The two sides or should be the two ends of the lake are a great contrast. The lake at the northern end is the place to be. It is narrow with the mountains dropping straight down into the lake. It is clear and clean and surprisingly warm in the summer...
Garda area secret is OUT! by jimwentzell ,Dec 16 '06
Pros: lovely views, especially along the eastern shore with boat and duck backgrounds Cons: Southwestern shore is a bit less ideal and more congested. Bring your wallet/credit cards
German tourists, known for requiring value for their Euro, have been flocking to Lake Garda for years. Americans still tend to bypass the idyllic little villages....Sirmione is my favorite, followed by Bardolino where you can sample wines and cheese. Every town seems to have the tourist-friendly shopping promenades in the middle of town, and everyone seems to take the ubiquitous credit cards these days. Just watch your wallet and don't fall prey to way-high exchange rates and the occasional pickpocket! Also I also notice the bathroom attendants hide the smaller-denominated coins (less than fifty cents) and only leave the 50 cent and one and two Euro coins in their tip-dishes. DON'T let them fool you into thinking that's what they should get! Only tip them well if they keep the toilets spotless! (25 to 50 cents is generous)
Pros: Beautiful lake, quaint towns, lovely out of Season Cons: can get busy mid summer, windy at top and not many good hotels
Make sure you visit May to october (otherwise can be cold!) This lake is idylic.. water is cold in spring as comes from the snowy alps! Each town is special in its own way with little squares, cobbled streets and old italian architecture. The boats kriss crossing the lake is mesmorising. Loads of walks along the rim of the lake too, great place to visit!
